CROESO I YSGOL GLANTAF

Ysgol Glantaf welcomes 11 year old pupils who are capable of receiving their education through the medium of Welsh. We stress to all our parents that Glantaf is a Welsh medium school. Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf supports the principle of a comprehensive education by offering this education to pupils of all abilities, without discrimination against race, creed, sex or disability as long as the pupils are able to cope with a Welsh medium education.

Ysgol Glantaf welcomes pupils with severe learning difficulties into our Special Resource Base, Canolfan Glantaf. In certain circumstances, we welcome pupils from outside the Authority who have received permission from Cardiff LEA. We also welcome older pupils who have moved to the catchment area if they are able to receive a Welsh medium education.

Applications for a place should be made to the Chief Schools’ Officer, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW. Applications may also be made at www.cardiff.gov.uk. The school’s standard admission number is 240 per cohort.

More details on applying for a place can be made here:

The school provides an opportunity for prospective parents to visit during the year 6 open evening. If this is not possible then alternative arrangements may be made by contacting the head of year 7 and transition.

We follow the county approach to the admission of looked after children. Our designated LAC officer is Mrs Beca Newis, who is responsible for supporting the welfare and achievement of looked after children. She works closely with the relevant heads of year to ensure appropriate provision for each pupil.

We welcome prospective pupils and parents to the school community and invite you to contact the school for further updated information.

We look forward to welcoming you to Glantaf.
