Croeso i Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf. Welcome to Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the website of Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf to experience a little of the ethos and richness of our vibrant learning community in the centre of Cardiff.

Glantaf is a lively, caring and welcoming Welsh medium school with a long and rich tradition of success in several fields. We are delighted that pupils are given opportunities to develop skills and experience success within the school community, whether within individual subjects, extra-curricular activities or personal development. We are committed that all our provision is clearly focused on the needs and developments of each individual pupil, to ensure that every child receives the best support and encouragement to develop to the fullness of their potential.

We work closely with key partners to achieve this vision, including our primary schools across the catchment area. We are pleased that pupils from the communities of Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Hamadryad, Pwll Coch, Mynydd Bychan, Pencae, Glan Ceubal, Melin Gruffydd and Wern, join us every year, creating a dynamic, rich and inclusive community. We value the rich nature, diversity and breadth of these communities, as we aim to ensure and promote an unique, relevant and contemporary Welsh identity for our children and young people. As they join the school community, and in growing and maturing in each other's company, we aim to inspire and encourage all individuals to contribute constructively and creatively to the culture and ethos of the school as ambitious, enterprising and responsible citizens.

We look forward to welcoming you to the community of Glantaf, to appreciate the success of our pupils whether in academic circles, on the sports field, within the arts, in charitable and community work or in developing the ethos and diversity within the school community. At the heart of our activity is the introduction and development of our pupils' linguistic skills, particularly fluency and engagement with the Welsh language, which is also evident within the school's motto "Coron Gwlad ei Mamiaith". Of course, that linguistic vision in Cardiff opens doors to different languages and traditions, and we are proud of the bilingual and multi-lingual skills of our pupils that equip them with a Welsh, European, and Global perspective, relevant for the 21st Century.

In a time of change and new challenges, we look forward to working with you over the next few years to encourage and support all pupils at Glantaf to the exciting next steps in their career and development.

A very warm welcome to you to Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf

Yours sincerely,

Matthew H T Evans
