Rugby Academy
Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf is one of the most famous rugby schools in Wales.

Our Rugby Academy XV currently play in the WRU u18s Schools and Colleges League competing weekly against the best u18s talent in Wales.

Glantaf is proud of our rugby history. Developing a very strong rugby pedigree of pupils that have come through our system, such as Jamie Roberts (Lions, Wales) Jamie & Nicky Robinson, Rhys Patchell, Seb Davies (Wales) Tom Isaacs (Wales 7s) with a number of age grade international (Wales u16s, u18s, u20s) and professional rugby players in recent years. Through establishing the Glantaf Rugby Academy we hope to nurture many more stars of the future with our high quality 12 hour a week rugby program, that fits in perfectly with our excellent educational studies.

The Glantaf Rugby Academy was established in 2016 with our Senior XV entering the WRU Wednesday u18s league. To date the Rugby Academy has been a roaring success. In our first year we reached the WRU Trophy final. 2017/18 has been an outstanding year, guaranteeing a play off spot (top 4 in the league) and playing in the top fight next season. 13 of the Glantaf Rugby Academy players represented their regions at u18’s level.

Glantaf are delighted to be a pioneering school in traveling the world giving ever-memorable rugby, educational and life experience for the pupils with our trips to New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore. We have strong relationships with rugby schools all over the world and host annual games versus world class touring sides at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf. Our 2019 Rugby Tour is heading to South Affrica, where we'll be playing against top quality rugby schools all over the country.

Jamie Roberts, former pupil at Ysgol Glantaf (Harlequins, Wales, Lions) : ‘Its fantastic to see that Glantaf is the only Welsh Medium school to play rugby at the highest level in the Schools and Colleges League. It was at Glantaf that I took my first steps to play rugby at the highest level, and I'm extremely grateful to the school. They have fantastic facilities here, new gym and super playing fields. They have the coaching set up in place to give the boys the best chance possible to realize their ambitions and play rugby at a high standard - so there can be no excuses. If you’re keen to purse excellent high standard Welsh education while playing rugby at the highest level, this is the only place to be.’
